[Posting: 20/02/08] Squash PEI is very pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 2008 Atlantic Junior Jester and the Atlantic Open, April 3-6 in Charlottetown. These are the premiere amateur squash events in the Atlantic Provinces!

Squash PEI joins Squash NS, Squash NB, and Squash NL in welcoming the Atlantic Jesters Club as the title sponsor for the Atlantic Junior Jester! [press release]

[Posting: 03/01/08] Squash PEI is very pleased to announce the selection of the team members who will be competing at the 2008 Canadian Women’s Team Championships, Jan 11-13, in Moncton. The team members are Mary Andrews, Tracy McGee, Stephanie Charlton, and Cynthia Dunsford. Accompanying the team will be Michele LeClair (manager), and Gordie Lawlor (coach). The PEI Team is seeded 8th.

Also attending the Women’s Team Championships is a PEI contingent of officials including Jill Taylor (Tournament Referee), Bob Aitken, and Shawn Hughes.

[Posting: 03/01/08] Squash PEI is in the process of selecting the manager, and coach for the 2011 Canada Games Squash Team. Contact Derek Lawther (dlawther@upei.ca) on or before Jan 8th if you wish to be considered.

[Posting: 28/10/07] Squash PEI is very pleased to announce that it has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with Black Knight which makes its TRU-BOUNCE ball the official ball of Squash PEI tournaments and programs.

[Posting: 05/10/07] Squash PEI time capsule from 1989-1990. Thanks to Harvey Chandler, Squash PEI is now in the possession of the association’s 1989-1990 handbook. It is a very interesting snapshot of squash on PEI just before the opening of the UPEI courts and the hosting of the Winter Canada Games on PEI. Those 1992 games were the first to feature squash as a competitive sport. Check out the report by Marion Grant which details how our association (lead by such members as Gordie Lawlor, and Darrell Coombes) played a leading role in bring squash to the Games. It also provides a very valuable means of recovering some of our lost history. Check it out!

[Posting: 29/08/07] Squash PEI launches new Junior Elite Team and Senior Elite Team (JETSET) Program. Deadline for Senior Men and Senior Women Selection is Sept 15, 2007. All Men’s A and Women’s A players are encouraged to review the program details and contact Derek Lawther as soon as possible to express interest if selected. Note: The normal eligibility requirements regarding tournaments played in the 2006-07 season are being waived for this inaugural year only!

[Posting: 10/07/07] Squash PEI has just purchased a squash cannon! That’s correct.....the world’s best ball machine for squash.....canadian designed and built! This machine is fully endorsed by Jonathon Power as an indispensable training and skills development tool. Do you think the machine should be used for fun skills competitions during our tournaments? Respond to our “Skills Competition” poll. Stay tuned for more details on how you will be able to access this exciting new product.

[Posting: 06/07/07] Squash PEI has just won the bid to host the 2009 Canadian Men’s Team Championships! Squash PEI has gained an excellent reputation for hosting national events. most recently, Squash PEI hosted the 2003 Canadian Junior Championships, and the 2005 Canadian Women’s Team Championships. This will be the first time the Canadian Men’s Teams will compete on PEI.
