Welcome to the South African Jesters

The  South African Squash Team is on its way. These jesterly folk, twelve in all, will be arriving on Sunday the 9th September. We, PEI squash community, will  be hosting them (for 3 days) and we are going to show them what Canadian maritime hospitality is all about!!

In order to do this I need your help. Come and join us for the events surrounding their short trip:

Day 1. Sunday,  9th September 2012:

Arriving at Charlottetown airport from Halifax on Air Canada AC7478 at 19:39. Great to have a small welcoming party!!! The group will then proceed to Lester’s House (129 Georgetown Rd, Stratford) for a bit of chowder and a short hello (till 9.30 pm). They will be billeted out after this.

Day 2. Monday 10th September.

Meeting at Founders' Hall at 9 am, (6 Prince St., Charlottetown) for a 'taste the town walkabout tour of Charlottetown' which features tastings of unique Island foods such as oysters, chocolate-dipped potato chips, COWS ice cream, craft beer, mussels and artisan liquors. After this we will enjoy a pub-style lunch at a restaurant of their choosing.

Then, later (5.00 pm), meet at squash courts where the South African “Bokke” will challenge the PEI “lobster” in this inaugural battle. If you are not playing , please come support a lobster! After this you are there will be an open round robin so come on and play a South African jester.

Following this (at roughly 8.pm) we are having a potluck –party (donations appreciated) at Hils sports bar. Come on and enjoy the live music and good cheer with our guests.

This also coincides with the registration for the league where we expect 70 participants so don’t miss this opportunity to participate and also meet our guests!!!!.

 Day 3 Tuesday 11th September

Meet at the Dunes Cafe at 11.30 for a late brunch or early lunch.

Golf day for most…so, join us and have some fun. If you can join us, please send John Power an email: john.power71@gmail.com. The golf takes place at Stanhope golf course (directions: http://goo.gl/maps/2NQPO ).  Starts at around 1pm and we would love to have you participate.

The non golfers will be doing a tour of PEI: including, Covehead Harbour, Tracadie bay, a Potato plant, North Rustico fishing village, Cavendish National park (red cliffs) and a lovely walk on the beach.

Golfers and the tour group reunite at Stanhope golf course lounge at 5pm

From the golf course we will proceed to Travis’ house for a barbeque or, (as it is known in South Africa), a 'braai'. The BBQ starts at 6pm.  Travis’ house is situated on the Brudenell River (246 Delodder Rd.) and it will be a perfect setting to entertain our guests. Direction in the link: http://goo.gl/maps/bU8BC. Everyone welcome, but, nice to get an idea of numbers. So, RSVP Emily Brown erc.brown@gmail.com, BYOB and the cost is $25.00 for a delicious meal.

Hi, I was on the UK Jesters tour to Canada last year and we had an fantastic time.

Say hello to anyone that remembers me, I was the old git at the bottom of the order that lost most of my games.

Have a great time
